Most of the people need to adjust the change of time. It is hard for us to think of being able to continue one thing. The word of flexibility is a key to our job. But, if people don’t need to fit the change of time, how will they live?

I think Apple seems to answer the question. There are no people who don’t know Apple.It is producing many innovations. I can no longer count technological innovations it has made.

I think that continuing to think of making our lives better could be one of the answers. There are many people who stop thinking something new in business.

Companies with such people will don’t have any good result and struggle with severe competitions because companies are used to no thinking, cannot think about making a better solution or strategy, even though, those have a serious problem or get a best chance.

Furthermore, such companies don’t understand even what a chance is or what a problem is as those don’t think anything.

What we learn from Apple is we need to keep on thinking of something.

Coffee is one of my favorites. I like staying in a café regardless of a work and my private life. There is an atmosphere to make me relaxed and concentrate on something I want to think about. What’s more, café is relatively wider space than a meeting room in an office. It gives me a feeling of release.

In a café like Starbucks, there are many people for reading a book, talking with their friends, having a business meeting and so on. I can enjoy listening to their voice and sometimes learn from their talking if they have a business meeting or talking about something useful.

When it comes to my job, I often use a café for it because I can do it anywhere, anytime by mobile Wi-Fi. The time to go to the office is wasteful. I think that if companies have a flexibility for work-life balance, the employees can spend time more efficiently and be healthier than before. According to surveys, by universities or institutions, it is evident that having flextime in a job is good for the health of people, especially about insufficient sleep.

Although this article is not about things I described, things around the coffee and café can be beneficial in more ways than we might think. I have the same feeling as the writer.

Singapore is a very strategic country. While its population is only just 5.4 million which is a tiny market, an average income is the most in the world. Many investors from foreign nations are located there.

Because Singapore has been historically developed by immigrants and the population is very few, the government is more strategic than others. A lower income tax rate symbolizes its strategy.

Recently the Singapore government has a new strategy to help start-ups of a tech industry. It launched a co-working space in San Francisco, where it can help Singaporean companies break into the American market. On the other hand, it can also help American start-ups to expand into Asia.

In my own word, it is “a hub strategy”, “platform strategy as a nation’s policy. Singapore is traditionally good at such policies. Apart from whether or not it is successful, this type of nation will be needed to support passionate people.

I think that company should be a space in which employees can perform the best. The more the company has skilled workers, the more competitive it can be. Making a better working place is one of the business strategies. If an engineer dreads being bullied by a co-worker, he/she won’t be able to show his/her skill. In a terrible case, his/her characteristic might be changed. Such a situation will give a negative impact on a company to get a good business result. IT engineers often do their tasks alone. However, they can be more productive than alone if they have good communications with each other. There will be a lot of things from co-workers.

Good business results are always with good workers.

Relatively older people, including intelligences, misunderstand macroeconomic policy. Such people often say that if the government has an ease monetary policy and a finance policy for macroeconomic, the economy will be getting a hyperinflation. It is totally wrong because central banks like bank of Japan and FRB can maintain the price level through controlling the volume of the monetary base in financial markets.

Why are they misunderstanding the economics? First of all, their experiences of inflation could be brought in their thought because they experienced relatively higher inflation during the 1970s in the case of Japan. The inflation was not from a healthy economic growth but from an oil shock. However, the bank of Japan could remove getting worse very smoothly. It was one of the samples that the central bank is able to play a role of getting rid of severe inflation. They look having a trauma. But, usually the central bank controls the price level like a CPI：consumer price index through adjusting the volume of a money supply.

Secondly, we need to think of the definition of a hyperinflation. Such people often use it without any clear meaning. Phillip D. Cagan (1927-2012) – an American scholar and author, Professor of Economics Emeritus at Columbia University- defined an extreme price boost by 13000% per year. Actually it is significantly difficult for policy makers to make such an economic situation. Now, only an extraordinary natural phenomenon or war might be able to happen such a level of inflation. An important thing here is that no one has the intent of hyperinflation. We need a healthy price level, which means a slight rise price by 2% to 4%. Japan like a nation which has continued a long recession, might need an inflation with 4% per year.

What should policy makers do to achieve the healthy inflation? The central bank needs to target the inflation to avoid the hyperinflation, adjusting a money supply and monitoring the macroeconomic indexes. It is best for policy makers to make an accord between the government and the central bank. People often say that the government should not involve in the economy so much. But, the faster the economy can improve, the more private sectors can make a profit. Making the best plan will be applied to both public sectors and private sectors.

Unfortunately the older have vested interests and are a majority of voters in democratic countries. They tend to prefer a deflation to an inflation because reducing the CPI looks better for consumers. However, it must be with a rising salary simultaneously. The percentage of rising salary should be above a slight inflation. It is a reality. The majority of voters should learn real, effective macroeconomics. Otherwise, people including them will struggle with disadvantages forever.

Firstly, the span of innovation is much shorter that before. There was no appearance of social media about two decades. The concept of the social media may be still teenagers, but it is growing much more rapidly than we expect. So, it needs to try something for differentiations from competitors.

Secondly, social media is not simply one. I mean that it has complexities with playing many roles. For instance, it is like media, matching Web site, movie, drama and so on. They are in industries of media, technology, entertainment, marketing consulting, and so on. They can become whatever it hopes to with much big data. Therefore, they are likely to challenge fields to do its business or mix its merits, utilizing such specialties.

All our businesses are always with technology and the internet. We cannot categorize our classification so easily. Our competitor is changing, depending on the time and innovation. We need to learn from animal spirits (=challenge spirits) and strong passions of social media like Silicon valley.

Some people say that employers should hire people with some job-changings. Others say that employers should hire people without any job-changing.

From the point of working experiences, people who have some job-hopping can take advantages of new jobs because they have a lot of experiences in some different companies. They will be able to have wider thinking ways for tasks. As contrast, people who have no job-hopping have more narrow vision to do new jobs since they don’t have enough experience due to working for only a company or only a job.

Next, I want to think about employee retention. Typical Japanese employees in human resource departments are often worried about the employee retention because they are likely to think that people having some job-changings might leave new companies. But this thought is completely wrong because such people could be more flexible of new working place than the others as they have already had experience of different companies. However, the others don’t have such experiences. Therefore, they, in fact, have high possibilities to quite a new job soon.

In conclusion, I am supporting the idea that people having some job-changings should be hired as priority because more experience in some companies really useful and valuable for companies in order to bring new ideas or different style to them. The companies with a variety of people can have more option for better strategies. But people with working for only a company might need to be trained in new companies because of a lack of experiences.
